Somehow the drawing/sketching impulse bypassed me.
Doodling, I do.
Formal classes in drawing were tough because they required sustained attention and detail, neither which were strong with me.
Sometimes I sketch quilt tops mostly to get an idea about how many squares I need, if I’m doing a traditional, planned quilt top, but improv—that’s where it’s at for me.
A few days ago I found an essentially blank sketch book with prompts that I gave my daughter some years back. She drew on 4 or 5 pages, and then I leafed through it one night with pencil in hand.
I’m reminded that I lack the patience and discipline for drawing/sketching.
But, this is one of the sketches I don’t mind sharing.
It reminds me of an angler fish more than a bubblegum wrapper.
What does your relationship with a pencil/pen & ink and paper look like?
